Hi, I’m Andy McDonald

Hi, I am Andy and welcome to this part of the website where you can find out about the person behind the blog, videos and articles. I am a petrophysicist, based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland within the oil and gas industry. I provide support to the development of the industry’s leading petrophysical package. I specialise in applications of data science and machine learning to the petrophysical and geoscience domains and have published numerous conference and journal papers in this area.

Outside of the day job I am a content creator on YouTube, Medium and LinkedIn, as well as this blog you are looking at right now. I also create specialised Notion templates and dashboards to enable others to use Notion more effectively.

Other interests include landscape and aurora photography, Scottish history and archaeology, space exploration, and family.
